AE 1.0 - Residential Solar 7.2 kW The solar array is made up of 36, 200 watt photovoltaic panels. The system produces up to 7.2 kW of energy. View the Residential Solar 7.2 kW case study
AE 3.0 - Residential Wind 5 kW This case study is the evaluation of a 5 kW residential wind turbine. The SES consortium will not only consider the system operation challenges, but also the opportunities presented to both the consumer and utility. Case study objectives include the evaluation of distributed generation interconnection requirements and the identification of the effects of distributed generation on distribution engineering, planning and maintenance costs. View the Residential Wind 5 kW case study
AE 4.0 - Residential Wind 7.5 kW This case study will evaluate the performance of the 7.5 kW wind turbine. The turbine will be metered to determine the return on investment of the system. View the Residential Wind 7.5 kW case study
SM 1.0 - Residential AMI This project includes the installation of 250 AMI meters in a concentrated area. The meters return to the utility meter reading data on 15 minute intervals. In turn, the data is made available to the consumer through the MySource Meter application. With this in mind, an objective of this case study is to analyze consumer behavior. Will consumers change their electricity use patterns when they have access to readily available data? View the Residential AMI case study
SM 3.0 - AMI Utility Integration This case study will determine the efficiencies of using the smart grid communications network to monitor meters from multiple electric utilities. View the Metering Utilies Integration: Electric case study
SM 4.0 - MySource Database Architecture This case study will analyze the supporting information transfers of MySource applications. An objective is to determine the best practices for ensuring these transfers are performed in a secure and efficient manner. View the Meter Data Management case study
HBA 1.0 - Entire Home Application This case study includes the monitoring and displaying of the energy used by all the appliances in the home. View the Entire Home Application case study
EE 3.0 - Lighting Compact fluorescent lighting (CFL) and light emitting diodes (LED) are more energy efficient than incandescent lights, but the question becomes which is the most cost effective for residential and business lighting applications. This case study includes the evaluation of consumer acceptance and energy savings obtained as a result of a utility CFL promotion where 125,000 CFLs were given to 3,500 utility customers for the purpose of replacing incandescent lights. In addition, this case study will evaluate the savings associated with a commercial LED lighting application. View the Lighting case study
UA 1.0 - Mobile Workforce This case study focuses on the MySource Operations mobile workforce interface. MySource Operations was developed to streamline utility engineering and operations processes. Data is managed through the MySource Operations Interface. This case study will evaluate workflow processes in order to show that field personnel can access data quickly and efficiently through MySource Operations. The process eliminates the need for paper forms, hence improving record accuracy and productivity. View the Mobile Workforce case study
UA 2.0 - Advanced Distribution Automation This case study will evaluate how the SES stakeholders can make functional investments collectively, integrate critical systems for increased productivity, create a larger enterprise ADA system across operational boundaries and create a framework for new improvements.
