Smart Grid Minimize
Weather Data
Weather data allows the consumer to visually see how weather impacts energy use in the home.  Extreme temperatures drive the demand for energy. Smart Energy Source will be utilizing this data to determine if real-time pricing models could assist in driving down costs by shifting loads to off-peak times.
Real Time Pricing
Real time pricing models are slowly emerging as the next generation of demand side management and energy innovation.  Future advances of MySource Meter will allow the utility to send price signals to the consumer providing the consumer alternatives as to when to run various appliances and at what price point.
Appliance Monitoring
Smart Energy Source is currently working on four case studies where individual appliances are being monitored and displayed on the MySource Meter. This technology is still evolving as protocols and meter data management systems are being developed. This case study provides a platform for advances within the MySource Meter application that will interface with new hardware.
Mobile Apps
With the emergence of the cell phone as the No. 1screen that many individuals use to interface with the Internet, Smart Energy Source is currently developing mobile apps for the iPhone that allow consumers to see their home energy use.

Continual advances are being made to the MySource Meter application connecting home appliances and monitoring and control at the consumer’s finger-tips. These advances allow the consumer and utility to partner in making wise energy choices and therefore relieving pressure on future generation and capacity needs.
