Smart Grid Minimize

Real-Time Use and Monitoring
The smart metering function of the AMI will allow for real-time use and monitoring. This is accomplished through the meter data management systems ability to process interval data and then be displayed in the MySource Meter application.
Service Reliability / Outage Notification
Increased service reliability can be an added benefit of an AMI. This may be accomplished from the smart meters ability to integrate with an OMS. Outage notification and verification can then be accomplished in real time. The sooner the notification of outages are received and verified, the sooner they can be dispatched and restored.
Connect and Disconnect
The AMI allows for remote connect and disconnect of services without a truck being rolled in the field. This reduces overall costs and increases efficiencies in the process.
Net Metering
Net metering is an electricity policy for consumers who own (generally small) renewable energy producing facilities (such as wind, solar power or home fuel cells). Under net metering, a system owner receives some credit for at least a portion of the electricity they generate and supply back to the entire electric grid.

AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) provides numerous opportunities for both the utility and the C&I customer. New expanded business opportunities presented by near-real-time communication between central station, meters, and monitoring and control devices on the distribution system advance power quality and reliability measures. Advanced sensors provide a platform for close oversight and system operations along with new customer offerings that will lead to significant efficiencies and energy management opportunities.
